SHARING THE FIRE The Northeast Storytelling Conference 2012 March 16th - 18th 2012 Sovereign Hotel, 1228 Western Avenue, Albany, New York 12203 For over 30 years, Sharing the Fire has been helping people from all walks of life implement the art and craft of storytelling into their personal and professional life. On March 16, 2012, Sharing the Fire will make its New York debut bringing hundreds of people from New York State, New England and beyond into Albany for three days of learning, sharing and networking with performances and workshops presented by storytelling professionals. STORY SWAPS There will be Swaps offered each night where you can share your favorite story or relax and listen to others. Hosted by experienced tellers, Story Swaps are a great opportunity to meet other tellers at the conference in an intimate and relaxed setting and are FREE to the public and conference attendees alike. (return later for more Story Swap information as STF 2012 approaches) Healing Track Who: Workshops are open to all who are interested. No storytelling experience is required. All workshops are interactive, and most interactive work besides discussion is done in partners and small groups. Participants who attend any workshop in its entirety may receive a CEU certificate for that workshop. Costs: See Registration form for prices for full conference participation. If you plan to attend only the CEU workshops and you register on line, click the “CEU” link CEU Registration If you register by mail please include a note with your application stating that you are attending the CEU workshops only. CEUs, PDPs & PTPs - EDUCATORS In New England and New York It may be possible for educators seeking recertification to accrue PDPs and CEUs by attending Sharing the Fire/ Northeast Storytelling Conference Keynote Speaker and up to 16 hours of workshop time on Saturday and Sunday that may qualify for PDPs and CEUs. We will provide the workshops and the opportunity for you to verify/certify your attendance. The rest of the process is up to the individual as per your situation and state. For many educators, the process will involve forming an individual plan utilizing STF presentations. You may need prior approval of your plan from your local school administrators. A second block of 50 rooms is being reserved for Friday, March 16th and another 50 for Saturday, March 17th. – based on availability. All meals will need to be pre-purchased. We will not be selling meals on site, however, the hotel restaurant will be open or there are several choices of restaurants within walking distance such as Boston Market (across the street), pizza and more. Dunkin Donuts is about 500 paces and Starbucks is about 100 paces away from the hotel. We hope this will offer another way for you and others to economize if you prefer.
